The Ford Fiesta has been a mainstay of British motoring for over four decades. This critically admired car – and the UK’s best-selling vehicle – is available now from Colin Easson, Rutland and Leicestershire’s foremost Ford dealership.
The seventh-generation Fiesta is bigger and better than ever – and has already met with universal acclaim. The car comes in Style, Zetec, Titanium, ST-Line, ST Line X, Titanium X and Vignale trim levels. Zetec and Titanium grades will also be selectable as special-edition B&O PLAY iterations. In 2018, Active and ST trims will be added, offering crossover-friendly features and hot hatch capabilities respectively.
The new three- and five-door Fiesta is larger than before (an increased length of 71mm and width of 12mm, to be exact). The vehicle now features a wider tailgate aperture, making it simpler to access to the boot. At the other end of the car, meanwhile, a subtly refashioned bonnet catches the eye. The new Fiesta is eminently customisable too, enabling its door-mirror shells and roof, for instance, to feature a contrasting-colour finish.
All models come with alloy wheels as standard (15-inches with entry-level Style grades), as well as body-coloured fixtures – such as bumpers – and elongated automatic headlights and wraparound tail lights.
Inside, the all-new Fiesta’s increased dimensions mean extra space in the front compartment, and greater head and legroom throughout. Boot capacity, meanwhile, starts at 292 litres (five-seat mode), rising to 1,093 litres (two-seat mode).
The car features fewer fiddly, space-consuming buttons than before – now the majority of functions are operable via a touchscreen display. Standard features include air conditioning, a six-speaker sound system (with FM/AM radio) and Bluetooth® connectivity. Special-edition B&O PLAY models (available in Zetec and Titanium grades) come with an eye-catching interior trim (Chrome Copper or Bohai Bay Mint) and a ten-speaker B&O PLAY audio system. The same variants also include an eight-inch touchscreen, complete with satellite navigation.
Thanks to the inclusion of electronic torque vectoring, the all-new Fiesta delivers greater agility than ever, while surface grip has been improved by as much as 10%. A range of petrol and diesel engines are available, offering between 62.8mpg and 88.3mpg and CO2 emissions that range from 118g/km to only 82g/km. All models come with fuel-saving Stop/Start system too. Optimal performance is delivered by ST variants, which are powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine. This produces 197bhp, a peak torque of 290Nm and 0-60mph in less than seven seconds.
It’s likely that the new Fiesta will be awarded Euro NCAP’s maximum five-star crash-test rating, particularly as it comes with an extensive range of driving aids and passive safety features. All models feature, for example, Hill-start Assist and Lane-keep Assist, while newly-introduced technologies include Cross Traffic Alert (a first for a European supermini).
